I have found  a very good example of an artist who represents of how photography art was limited in the early 1900s due to their technology.

Sanded was described as one of the most important portrait photographers in the 1900s. He photographed many rich and famous people in his time. However, all of his work is of portraits, almost proving art wasnt popular in these early days, even from well known photographers.

I  will include him in my essay as i feel hes could be vital to prove whether his interest in portraits showed that the early stages of photography didn’t include much of an art take.
